Seeking Ideas

  Hello, have you ever tried to come up with ideas for short stories? I am in the process of writing short stories and trying to find out where to get my ideas from. Some say people watch and see if a story will come to you that way. I tried that it didn't.  Some say just write down ideas that  comes to your mind. Tried that nothing came to it. Some say ideas come from the movies you watch or the television programs  you see. These are all good suggestions. What works for me is that I just wait, and then an idea pops into my mind. Personally, I think I have a ghost in my head telling me what to write. By that's my crazy side talking. Anyway, if you write short stories, where do you get your ideas from?

A.I. Is A Hot Mess!

 

Hello, all.  A.I., which stands for Artificial Intelligence, is a hot mess in a good and bad way. Here are my thoughts on it from a writer's point of view.  A.I. allows you to do so many things as a writer, get story ideas, make outlines, story titles, character information, and so many things that a writer needs to write. A.I. can do it for you. Heck if you look on YouTube, you will see where people are talking about how A.I. has written their books for them and they published them on Amazon for money. You can also see how A.I. Characters have taken over YouTube with characters that do talk shows, podcasts even movies. which I did see a movie that was totally A.I. generated, and it was good. I'm not knocking A.I. I'm just saying when it is too much. Using A.I. takes away your ability to think for yourself. Especially a writer. I will admit I use A.I. just for story ideas and maybe to give me information on writing styles, but then when I write a story, it's in my own words and most of it is from my own thoughts.

 Is A.I. making us lazy writers? We want to make that fast buck, so we let something else do the work for us. Remember, even if you use A.I., you have to re-read what it has written for you because it's emotionless and can't grasp a lot of the feelings and concepts you might want to add in your book. I tried to create a character using A.I. just so I could get a visual when I write the story, and A.I. got it all wrong. 

So, all I'm saying is think about your stories. yes, let A.I. help you if you need it, but don't let it take your creativity away from you because you're too lazy to use what god has blessed you with, which is your brain.  Also, remember when using A.I. it takes from many sources, so putting your complete faith in it who knows if you're not using someone else's stuff as your own? Just my personal thoughts.

Who Said This Was Easy??

                                                     Hello Everybody

Who said writing short stories or stories, period, was easy? Wasn't telling the truth.  There is so much to learn. The writing part is easy; it's all the other stuff that goes along with it that's the stuff you need to learn. I find myself writing stories and then editing them, and when I go to Reddit. One of my favorite places to go if I have a writing question. I learn something else about writing stories I didn't even think of. 

Someone said that being a writer is a lifelong process. That you need to learn the basics before you can ever think of writing something that's almost good. It takes years of writing to be good, and when you think you're good, you're not because your beta readers will tell you that. You also need a thick skin to write and let others read your work. That's the part that I fear, others reading my work and telling me it's not that good. But I have a ways to go, I'm still in the learning process. Like they say, take baby steps before you walk, and that goes for trying to be a writer of short stories to

 Hello there, welcome back to Goodie's blog. My question to you when are you too old to write a book?  There are thousands of books written each day and put out on Amazon and other places.  Is there a point where, if you're passed a certain age that you should say forget it and leave the book writing to the younger generation?  There is so much life experience you could share with others, not to writing a book. I say write your book, be it about your personal experiences, or a fiction book you've always wanted to write. A romance book, heck, even a horror book or sci-fi. Write what makes you happy.  What have you got to lose?  Besides, at least that would be one more thing off your bucket list. I'm in the process of writing a few short stories myself. Since I'm an avid reader thought I might as well write what I want to read about since I can't find any of these stories. Writing is a learning curve; it's not easy, but it's not that hard either, especially if you take your time and learn from others. So, go for it, what have you got to lose?  What's the worst that can happen? You don't sell any, that's ok. You're writing your book for your personal enjoyment, and it will always be there when you're not. But if you sell some copies of your book, great, just think of it as getting coffee money. That's what I'm going to do. Write enjoy and when you finish, I want to read it.

Here's Another

       Hello all. I'm loving this cover of an African American woman and her Demon lover. Which are few and far between.  I was trying to get this book to read no luck from the library. I was curious to see how they portrayed the women in this book. Since the ones I have read have their personalities like their counterparts. afraid, clueless, and just to eager and accepting. Anyway, I like to see one that's different then the normal personalities I read about in these books. Maybe I'll buy this one just to see how the author writes the story, especially the characters. Have you thought about writing a story that is true to your character's personality? I'm working on one now. A story I would want to read, and hopefully others will too. Keep you posted on that.

Books Who Encouraged Me

  Hello all, first let me say I love this cover. What encouraged me to start writing my own stories was a cover like this. I read a lot of dark romance books & monster romance books. And all I see is one kind of woman represented in most of these stories.  You know the ones, blond, pretty, petite, either not too smart or gutsy. I need to see other women represented in stories like these.  Let me see some women of color take on the stalker or monsters of the world. I bet their attitude, and actions would be very different from the ones we normally read about. That's why I am writing short stories to represent women I want to read about in stories that I enjoy reading.  Before you say it, yes, I have read stories that represent women of color, but their characters act, think, and look like their blonde-headed counterparts. Like, who's writing these stories anyway? So that's one of my reasons for trying to write stories I want to read about.
